Cuisinart EM-100 1000-Watt 15-Bar Espresso Maker – My Espresso Maker

So you may be wondering which of the myriad of espresso coffee machines I use in my kitchen. Well to be perfectly honest I use a variety of coffee makers but the one I mainly use to make espresso coffee is the Cuisinart EM 100 espresso maker. This is a great little machine that’s easy to use, easy to clean, makes fantastic espresso and will not break the bank.

There are a couple of things you’ll need to be aware of that stop this machine being perfect, but they are in now way deal breakers, especially at this price! First off, the steam wand does not have a lot of clearance so you’ll either have to use your machine at the end of the counter, or use a small milk jug. I’ve found that the one supplied is fine so long as you’re making cappuccino. If you want more milk for a large latte then you’ll either need to make 2 batches or do the end of the counter thing.

Second is tamping. Make sure you have espresso grind, not a really fine grind on your beans and don’t really press down when tamping, otherwise the water flow may be too slow (or in some cases not at all). This is mentioned in the reviews, but personally I haven’t found this to be an issue.

On the positive side there’s a short DVD demonstration on how to use the machine – it explains it all really well and i found that I made a great espresso on my first attempt. My Cuisinart EM 100 is still cranking out great espresso even now :-)

As the the Cuisinart EM 100 is a Cuisinart you’ll know that it’s well made and as a bonus you’ll get a 3 year warranty rather than just one year for most other machines. Personally I think it’s a steal at this price and once you buy one you’ll never head out to your local expensive coffee shop again.

Great site! I love espresso makers, especially since they save me a lot of money on buying coffee and lattes out for $4 a pop!
